Latex is the mattress filling people pay serious money for, and this is the real thing: a deep 50mm layer of 100% natural Talalay latex on a 2000 pocket sprung unit. If you want a responsive, cool, long-lasting mattress without a scrap of memory foam sink, this is the top of that tree.

Two questions worth asking of any latex mattress: is the latex natural (milky in colour, rubbery to the touch, not grey synthetic foam), and is it actually the layer you sleep on? Plenty of expensive mattresses bury a thin band of real latex under synthetic comfort layers, so you pay for latex and never feel it. Ours sits directly beneath the cover, where you sleep on it. You can even see the proof in the material itself: the rows of pin holes across real Talalay latex are left by the moulding process, and they are what give the latex its elasticity, letting it flex and contour into the curves of your body while doubling as ventilation channels through the comfort layer. On this mattress you can even make out those pin holes through the Tencel cover, which tells you exactly where the latex is: right at the top, where you sleep.

Latex works with pressure, not heat. When you change position it responds instantly, and the air moving through those channels keeps the surface cool, so you never sleep warm. It contours to your body from head to toe while staying easy to move on, and the 2000 pocket springs underneath isolate movement, so a restless partner stays their problem, not yours. Suits side, back and front sleepers.

The border is hand stitched in a double row, anchoring the outer springs for a firm, supportive edge. The cover is soft knitted Tencel, which regulates body temperature through the night, and the fabric pattern can vary between batches. Latex is naturally antibacterial, anti allergy and highly durable, one of the longest-lasting fillings a mattress can have.
