Fresh Memory Foam Mattress

This is the mattress for people who want to be hugged to sleep. A pressure-relieving layer of memory foam sits on a firm, high-density foam foundation, no springs anywhere, so the top cradles into your shape while the base holds you properly supported. Memory foam was originally developed for NASA to absorb impact energy, and that is exactly what it still does: it soaks up movement and pressure instead of bouncing it back.

That is why this mattress feels the way it does. Dense, still and settled, with none of the bounce of a sprung mattress, which is precisely what memory foam sleepers love about it. It spreads your weight across the whole surface instead of concentrating it on your hips and shoulders, easing pressure on your joints, the same reason hospitals have trusted this material for pressure relief for decades. And because the foam absorbs movement, motion transfer is heavily minimised. Not zero, but a restless partner barely registers.

The honest trade-off with memory foam is heat. It warms up around you, and warm sleepers will notice. The soft knitted Tencel cover regulates temperature and the 360 degree ventilated border lets heat and moisture escape from the sides, which keeps it fresher than most memory foam builds, but if you already sleep hot, our open cell and gel mattresses are the cooler choice.

You choose the feel, and it is a genuine choice of build, not a label. Medium soft (around 5 to 6 out of 10) uses a deeper memory foam layer on a softer foundation for maximum hug. Medium firm (around 7 to 8) uses less memory foam on a denser base for more support with the same pressure relief. Bear in mind firmness feels a little different depending on your weight and build. Approx 10 inches deep.

One thing worth knowing about foam mattresses: the base changes the feel. On a slatted base the mattress can flex slightly between the slats, so it generally feels a touch softer than the same mattress on a flat divan top. This mattress works on our gas lift frame beds, the slats meet the minimum support requirements, and on our ottoman divans. The one pairing to avoid is a side lift ottoman: foam mattresses are lighter than sprung ones, and this one may not be heavy enough to hold a side lift lid fully closed.
