Supportive orthopaedic comfort with a responsive, breathable foam, and none of the heat of memory foam. This is a full foam mattress built on open-cell reflex foam, which behaves very differently to the memory foam most people know.
Memory foam is closed cell. It traps heat and returns to shape slowly, which is what gives it that warm, sink-and-wait feel. Open-cell reflex foam is the opposite: air moves through it so it sleeps cooler, and it springs back immediately when you change position instead of holding the dip. You get responsive, pressure-relieving support that reacts to your body straight away, with the weight spread evenly to ease your hips, neck and shoulders.
Because it is full foam with no springs, it absorbs movement rather than transmitting it, so sharing with a restless partner barely disturbs you. The soft knitted cover has aloe vera blended into the fabric for a gentle, fresh feel against the skin. Hypoallergenic fillings and fabrics are used throughout, fully conforming to British fire safety regulations.
This is a medium firm mattress with good orthopaedic support, and it sits between on and in: more responsive than memory foam, cooler too. Bear in mind firmness feels a little different depending on your weight and build. Approx 8 inches deep.
A word on bases: at 8 inches this is a lighter mattress, so it is too light for most ottoman beds and may not hold a gas lift lid closed. It is a great no-fuss mattress on a standard divan or slatted base.
